Mushroom Foraging

Hi Ho Hi Ho A Mushroom Hunting We Will Go!

Autumn in the Pacific Northwest is my favourite time of year. There’s nothing quite like walking through the forest and seeing bright glowing mushrooms speckled everywhere.  It feels like Christmas morning to a forager!

The forest is a magical place to be surrounded with all its vibrant shades of green, wildlife and the sweet sounds of nature.

5 Things to Take Foraging

With our mushroom kit in hand, we set off into the magical forest on the hunt for mushrooms. For the full story, check out this Twitter thread.

  • A bottle of water
  • A knife for picking
  • An identification book – This field guide is one of our favourites
  • A navigational tool (compass, gps or pinning device)
  • A basket or a bucket
  • *bear spray optional*

Todays forage was a success! We hauled out five pounds of beautiful glowing chanterelles. Time for me to turn the fireplace on, get cosy and enjoy a warm bowl of Wild Mushroom Soup.

Every mushroom post needs a dash of fungi humour…
