Rumoured Harry Potter Series

Ok, maybe you’re not a fan of Harry Potter, but for those of us who are there is a pretty exciting rumour going around.

Harry Potter might be getting a TV series! First announced by Bloomberg on April 3,2023 and then appearing on other news sites like yahoo and The National News. What do we know so far?

The rumour comes from two anonymous sources that believe the deal is close to being closed. J.K. Rowling, who wrote the book series in the talks to be creatively involved as a producer. They are wanting to stay true to the original story and characters while adding more details along the way.

We’re told that each of the seven books would have its own season in the series. Since some of the books are over 500 pages long – there’s a lot of important details that were cut out of the movies.

With the success of the the eight films (book seven had was released in two parts), it’s likely that this project will become a reality. The eight films generated a knock-out total of over 7.7 billion dollars world wide in ticket sales.

I hope this happens. I would love to see the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter reopened.

Marketing Hack: Using Stories to Drive Sales

We are driven by stories. Marketers have always known that word of mouth is the most effective type of marketing. Everyone knows this. So the question we ask is : “how can we control that”? The closest we can get is by using storytelling in our ads. Telling a story connects with the emotions of the customer, making them feel like the pitch is coming from a friend.

Snippet Story

The Beginning

Some people lose items regularly. One of my friends seems to be always misplacing his ID, wallet and phone. Me, on the other hand, does not misplace things often. That’s why I was at a loss when I did lose an important object – my phone.

Honestly, it sucks losing something. I’m sure you can relate. You are sure it should be in a certain spot, and look that spot over once, twice, three times. By the fourth search in the same spot, you start going crazy. There’s no way it could be there after your fourth search!

I decide to wait till the next day to search the same spots again. No luck.

By the fourth post in the thread, I’m sure the readers can relate. We’ve introduced the who (myself), where (at home), when (Thursday night), what (the problem is the lost item).

Next step – giving up

This isn’t the way I imagined it going. I was sure I would find the phone at home the next day.

So I decided to move on, and replace it.

I parked in a new spot returning home and while walking up to the driveway spotted my phone facedown. It had fallen out of my pocket when I went out to warm up the car. When we were leaving I knew I didn’t have my phone in my pocket so I assumed it was at home.

I had looked in the vehicle but not under it!

Story Telling Principles

The story moves forward from the beginning, using a negative trigger to push us on in the search for the phone. The quest of the character is to find the phone. It is not successful and we move into the outcome which is replacing the phone.
In this case, the surprise happens after the resolution – when I find the phone.
